Exclamation White steam/smoke in engine compartment.

Temp gauge goes all the way up and all the way down sporadically, and then when I stop the Blazer it starts spewing white steam/smoke from under the hood. It looks like it is coming directly from the middle of the engine. There is nothing coming out of the exhaust in the rear and there is a funny coolant like smell when my heat is on and sometimes even when i have the air off entirely. I have an appointment to have it looked at. the coolant is full up. Any ideas?

you can have a fine pin hole leak spraying anti freeze on your hot block causing the steam also

Fixed it myself. Heater core hose was blown and spraying all over the compartment. Radiator was leaking real bad. New hoses and some sealant and all new coolant and were running beautifully. Thanks guys for the ideas! Total cost came out to under $100.
