Default Will a 2001 transmission work in a 1999?

Hey guys newbie here. I have been on the Corvette forum since 05 so I am the new guy. I recently bought a 99 ZR2 with 200,000 and a bad transmission. Truck cosmetically is in real nice shape and the 4.3 runs well. My question is if a 2001 4x4 blazer transmission will work in this ZR2 properly? I have heard they will but the computer would have to be what they called "flashed" or reprogrammed. Another guy said it would work but the shift points would be different. Can anyone tell me if it will work and what would have to be done to make it work right? It belongs to a friend and is almost free and I know it is good. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
