Default will this transmission transfer work?

I was just wondering if a transmission from a 2WD 97 s10 pickup would work in my 4WD 97 s10 blazer. I realize that there is a difference but does this mean i just won't have 4WD?

It is a great deal of work to swap out the tail shaft to make that transmission mate up with your transfer case. It would be much easier to get a transmission from a 4wd pickup or blazer to swap in. Any 4L60E from a 4wd application will work and that includes anything from a fullsize pickup so long as it is the 4L60E and not the 4L80E.

Ok, thanks. The reason I ask it that my friend's pickup has a busted camshaft and he's basiclly getting rid of it, which brings up another question. Could the engine from my 4WD Blazer fit in his 2WD pickup?

Default RE: will this transmission transfer work?

4.3L to 4.3L, the only difference I can think of between the two engines may be the remote oil filter adapter.

Ofcourse, I didn't think to ask what engine was in this S10 pickup. If it's a 4 cylinder, the transmission bell housings are different...
