I did remove the valve body. Those 8mm bolts, I'm quite certain I did torque those. If I did leave those loose, would that affect the neutral going forward? Also, we tried to move the truck backwards by pushing it and it felt like it was locked up. In reverse, giving it lots of gas, it felt like it moved slightly, almost imperceptibly.

It starts in park and neutral. When I had it up on jack stands, in neutral, the tires would spin forward, more so if I gave it gas. On the ground, in neutral, it doesn't move, even with a bit of gas.

The wheels will turn when the vehicles off the ground in neutral. That’s from the fluid is flinging around and applying clutches by centrifugal force. If the stiffener plate bolts were left loose it would cross-leak and cause a bind in reverse. Also the drum that the band rides on is applied in reverse and that is fed from the back of the pump. Very easy to clip a sealing ring when installing the pump. You may want to hook a pressure gauge to it and check the readings before going much further.

I took the pan down and the stiffener plate bolts were tight. I think it's time to tap out and take it to a shop, I need to get onto other projects.
Thank you very much for your help, it's greatly appreciated. My son's and I had fun trying to fix it.

So just got it back from the shop. It was the cone shaped plate. I didn't get everything lined up correctly when I put the input drum in. When I tightened the pump down, it pushed the tabs completely down.
