Default 1970 K5 Blazer

i was recently given a 1970 K5 blazer by my father. is it worth fixing up? its pretty ruff, the drivers side door has to be lifted up to shut it? im new to the site and was wondering if anyone else on this board has a 69-73 blazer they restored? trying to find info on problem area's, whats a PITA and whats not etc. im mostly scared of the body work, i can handle the mechanical part.

its all complete, the previous owner cut holes in the grill and mounted the spare tire in front. my father also cut a hole in the floor and put a floor shifter in because he didnt like the column shifter. are any of these things a big problem?

my #1 concern is the drivers door, seems as though it would need alot of fabrication work to fix?

i dont know much about chevy's since im a ford guy, after we moved the blazer he did give me the air cleaner a extra tranny and some...small round thing, he said it went between the carb and air cleaner?

i can get pics of the inside of the door where it mounts later if needed.

Body work will likely be the most difficult part. Without pictures, it is hard to say how difficult.

the doors could be the pins or hinges or even the rockers. i have a good amount of pics of k5 restorations. pm me if your interested.

x2 on body work. body work can take longer and be more frustrating then engine work. the cost difference depends on how bad of shape you are talking. how good are your fabricating skills? welding? do be afraid even if you've never done it. when i did my first one i wasn't very experienced at all. you learn alot on the way about how things are designed and how to make things better. plus i always liked the part about customizing things and making it your own.
