Default 1977 k5 Carburetor swap

Hi Guys,

I have a 1977 K5 Blazer with the 350 and quadrajet carb. I have worked on rebuilding the carb but keep running into pins bending below the float.

So I have decided I want to swap over to a Edelbrock 1406 I already have but have never used. I purchased the adapter plate today (mr gasket) and for the most part have everything bolted up.

I am running into issue with how to handle the bracket that holds the return springs and throttle cables. I still have the original one that bolted to the quadrajet.

Is there a way to continue to use the original bracket or has anyone installed one of these carbs on your k5?

If anyone has any pictures they could share me that would be a big help. Especially how you handled the springs, throttle cable, and the other slide cable (not sure the correct name).

if youre talking about where youre cables and springs attach to the carb, i remember having the same issue when i got my edlebrak and had to buy something that attached to the side of it. i wonder if you can just make something out of a nut and bolt but its been so long since i did it, i just remember having the same issue and having to run back to the parts store

I added a pic of the original carb setup. I tried to draw a arrow to the original bracket. The way it attached was with the original carb back 2 bolts.

The new carb just did not hook up the same way. I added a longer bolt to one side of the new carb and got the bracket to mount but the accelerator cable is just a little too long.

ah so you need the actual bracket to hold the accelerator and kick down cable?

thats strange i dont remember ever having that issue but all my trucks were mid 80s, i think on those that bracket bolts directly to the intake. maybe they got some aftermarket or if worse comes to work have to make something
