1991 k5 blazer rear differential problems
#12
If you cant find a 6 bolt rearend you can swap your axles out with a 5 bolt pretty easily but the 6 bolt rear end should be an easy find.

You should easily be able to find a 10bolt rear differential laying around somewhere. I wouldnt pay more than 100 to 150 at max. Dont let them know how badly you need it and youll get a good deal. I can go down the street right now and get a 3/4 ton running gear on wheels with driveshafts, leaf springs, th400 w/ case for under $500.... and thats pretty common.

My rear driveshaft fell out and am trying to figure out what it is I need to replace. Driveshaft is fine, u-joints fine, my bolt broke and the guy at advance said it would be the pinion gears as the pinion will rock side to side when moved by hand and not up and down.....not sure where to go from here he said it would be a cone or cup but idk how to find out wich one, or what else would have to be replaced.

I know that the nut is sitting in my house and the pinion is still sitting in the truck. Its not leaking now but I wasn't the one who was driving when it fell out. He said something like the bolt that holds the driveshaft up in the back broke. I wish I had something to take pictures with, but I don't.

I traded my to bolt in great condition to a local 4x4 parts store for an Extreme high lift jack... I thought I got a great deal... Otherwise it was worth scrap value.
To the OP, what are the pieces that are broken? i'm still confused with what actually happened.
Check out the members map from another board I'm on and let me know if any member is near you. Maybe they can help sourcing a part....
