Default 85' 6.2L Blazer

Hi All,
First time ever on a site like this.
First time ever working on a rebuild.
I gutted the Blazer, which ran when I bought it, but, while driving it the hose supplying oil to the cooler blew. Come to find out the previous owner used garden hoses to patch previously blown tubing.
The engine will not turn over as I think it lost all the oil and I didn't kill it right away. SO, can it be rebuilt or should I look for a different engine.

It probably can be rebuilt, but probably won't be worth the cost to rebuild it. Unfortunately, good used 6.2 diesels are probably not that easy to come by, so you might have to buy a rebuilt one or convert to a gas engine (or swap to a different diesel, which would be a fun option).

Welcome to the Blazerforum.

I agree with TomA on looking for a running 6.2 might be the cheapest alternative.

Thanks All,
Now I gotta figure out the easiest (1 person) removal technique of engine. Being I can't spin engine to get to all the engine/trans bolts. :[

If you mean the torque converter bolts, just pull the engine out with the torque converter attached.

So the transmission and the engine are only attached by the bell Housing?

I would seriously consider an LS gasoline V8 in 6.2L. Go to a salvage yard and get a low mileage 6.2L LS complete package with the auto trans and complete wiring harness including the ECM. The 6.2L truck version is cast iron , not aluminum. This is a popular swap and should be well documented.
