Default 91 rear-end help

I am looking to beef up my rear-end. My carrier is cracked in half and not sure what else is broke. Looked at the 14bolt 1ton conversion axle with 6 lugs. Waste of money? Otherwise, I will re-build it. Any suggestions on decent, not so expensive parts? Where to get a cheap assembly?
Any help is greatly appreciated...

The 1-ton axles are not 6 lug. Your best bet would be to find a 3/4 ton truck and take the front and rear axle from it, converting to the 8-lug axles.

I guess I should have clarified my statement to include the word 'stock'. That article is far from stock.

Just my opinion, but if you are going to go through all of the trouble and expense of upgrading the rear axle to a 14 bolt, you really should go with the full floater, not the semi-floater that is in that article. Also, your front axle will be the next weak link. Besides, that custom axle is going to likely be more expensive than doing it right.
