Default 91 V10 running rough following new A/C work

New to the forum.....looking for guidance.

Purchased 91 V10 Blazer (215K miles) 2yrs ago for my son, knowing the A/C didn't work, to make it through high school and something to tinker on together. 3 weeks ago had professional replace Drier/Accumltr, Evap Core and Compressor, retro to 134A etc prior to letting my son head of to summer school (very hot). After the work was completed, I immediately put the new A/C to test driving the 200 miles, in 96 degree weather, to school to ensure everything worked.....seemed to run fine, so I left him with it at school.

During a visit this past weekend, I was informed the Blazer is not running well, actually rough and sputtering like running out of gas (which my son has experienced). I made the test run and after a smooth start and slow increase of speed, the motor seemed to start stumbling at around 35 mph and greater, as well as sputtering during attempts to accelerate. The issue does go away when I turn the A/C off, so I am wondering are there other system adjustments my "pro" may have missed after installing the new A/C, especially since I had none of these issues during the "new A/C maiden run".

As a back-up, I have located a service center (and the Chev dealer) near the college since I am not able to take back to the professional installer 200 miles back home. If my son can stand the heat a couple more weeks.....he can drive home (without A/C) and I'll take it back to my "pro" for further diagnosis.

In the meantime, any suggestions for my son and I to trouble shoot further in advance of additional service fee? Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

my question is where in the world did you get a v10 blazer?

Do you mean S10 or do you actually have a Blazer with a V10?

V10 was the designation for the full size blazer from 87-91. This is the full size section...

On the problem, it sounds like something is causing the A/C system to draw too much power. If turning the A/C off alleviates the problem, have him drive it with the A/C off until you can get it looked at.

I am having son continue the A/C on and off observation; will most likely do as suggested, suffer the heat a few weeks (save gas, ride bike) and drive home for the home mechanic to re-assess his work.

Thanks also for clarifying the V10 designation for the others, I thought using V10 vs. K5 was relevant.

To close the loop; new plugs, wires, rotor cap and fuel filter did the trick. I am embarrassed to admit these items weren't replaced when I purchased the Blazer, all was running fine - don't fix what ain't broken. Too make matters worse, it was discovered that the plugs and wires were Motorcraft products......probably got more results from these FORD products than an actual FORD would; no more FORD parts in my CHEVY!!
