92 Blazer-speedometer & fuel gauge problem
I have a 92 fullsize Blazer. 5.7LT engine, automatic trans, and 4WD. The speedometer is not working right. It jumps and is not reading out right. The other problem is, the fuel gauge is not working at all. The fuel pump was replaced last summer. Hasn't been working right since. Probably the sending unit. The speedomete is probably the speed sensor in the transfer case. That is what I was told at Orileys Auto Parts. Does the 92 full size Blazer have a speedometer cable? Or just the speed sensor that goes in the transmission? Thanks, gearyr
No speedo cable. It is an electronic sensor in the tail housing directly ahead of the rear driveshaft. Being a 4wd, the VSS sensor will be in the tail housing on the transfer case.
As far as the fuel gauge goes, was the sending unit replaced when the pump was replaced? If not, it may have been damaged during the pump replacement.

No the fuel pump was the only thing changed out. So, time to do it again. Drop the tank and replace the whole sending unit. I wasn't sure about the speedometer problem. The sensor cost $53.50 at Advance Auto Parts. But they didn't have one in stock. Suppose to be here tommorrow afternoon. I heard that it is easy to replace. Take off connector, unscrew the sensor, screw in new sensor, and hook back up. Thanks, gearyr
