Default 93 K5 Blazer no power, idles fine

My '93 K5 will start right up and idle fine. Revs up fine but when I put it in gear it spits and sputters. Changed all the basic stuff and still no better. Disconnected the fuel line at the filter to see what the fuel looked like and it looks good, no water. When turning the key on I get about a second of fuel flow then nothing. I was expecting flow till it reached a certain pressure.

I'm totally perplexed at this point...

I can only offer some basic ideas.

How did you check the fuel pump, with the end of the fuel line open to check the flow? Do you have a way to check the fuel pressure? That is the standard test. I don't know what the specs are for the pressure on your full-size Blazer but I'm sure the basic operation must be the same with the pressure needing to be steady at all times at around 55psi. This pressure should hold for quite a while too (up to 45 min.?) after the ignition is put in the off position.

Thanks for your response. I will try to get a gauge on there today and will let you know the results...

On your Blazer, there isn't a fuel pressure gauge fitting, so you'll need to get a tee that temporarily installs in place of the filter and has a pressure tap. TBI (Throttle Body Injection) operates at much lower pressure, so you want to see something more like 12-15PSI (I don't know the exact number off the top of my head). If the pressure is good at idle, try driving it and see what it does under load. If it drops off, you need a fuel pump.

make sure the spark plugs are clean, one misfiring can cause severe power loss under load but run ok at no or light load.

.That happened to my 95 4.3 with a leaky valve guide seal on #3. Up a slight hill, choke and sputter....oil residue was on the plug.
