94 4x4 fullsize w/5.7L starter???
Hello to all. I've been logged on for sometime now just looking around and seeing what info I can get and have fond quite a bit. But now it's my turn to ask a question of my own. I live in Japan,Nagoya to be exact (the Toyota capital of the country) so US built cars and parts(even more rare) is kindahard to findif not costinga few body parts (sometimesorgans too) andshops that can service give me thesame old story of ' if you make a reservationI'll take a look at it' meaning ' I hope you have the organ in the cooler b4I pop the hood'
Ok enuf story telling and backto business. Ive been having starter issues. Some days it starts with one turn of the key and others its just a click like the gear hits the fly wheel and thats it.Then after few triesand sometimes with a pause(a sec) the starter motor kicks in and starts the engine. Ive cleaned the posts, pulled the starter, changed out the solenoid andpulled it apartand brushed all the dust out(dust from what i take is the brushes) mostly copper dust.reasembled and worked fine for twostarts and then back to the samething. and then ditched me the other day. That time just click, back off the switch and try again and just click. I kept trying butI know that if I kept it up for too longIll just A) drain the batt. B) burnup the starter or something to that affect.SoI left it there and walked home(luck only 10 mins away) then whenI got back about 6 hours later it started up. Drove it that nite and itditched me again (20 walk home) OK i know its like im tellingmy life story here but there is a point to all this.
Iread that you can put WD40 in the solenoid so that it slides but i know not to get any in the starter. Also I was thinking ofputting an aux. switch for the starter like the push buttons on like hot rods or Nascars. Again i know this is a longpost(getting close to a novel) buti just wanted to get as much info in
I hope you can help me out
Thank
