94 blazer shuts off after 5 seconds

RE: 94 blazer shuts off after 5 seconds
I just called around looking for new parts and the best I could get was $150 for everything from NAPA. that is the sending unit, pump, strainer and all the little things that come in the box. It has to be ordered but will be here by 3pm today. Not bad considering. I really wanted a GM unit but we all know the price of them AND I would be waiting for it for a few days until it came in the mail and I need the truck running ASAP. I will keep you all updated on my progress.

can you give me pointers ontakingthe sending unit up out of the tank. isnt there a ring that must be removed or something? I have tried a few things but it seems like i am going to break something

You'll need to clean everything up quite well on top. And yes, there is a ring that must be turned counter-clockwise to disengage it from the receiver on the tank itself. The reason why I state to clean it very well is because you need to be able to distinguish between the tank and the ring. On my dad's truck, it was very difficult due to the accumulated road grime that was up there.

Update.... the truck is now running. It was the fuel pump. I changed it our along with a new sendingunit anf filter. She fired right up after. Thanks to those that helped out. Now I gotta look for why it skips/stumbles/jerks and bucks when I give it a decent amount of gas while driving.
