Default Black oily soot

Today I noticed that there was a black oily soot coming from between my header and block. I noticed this only because my engine block has just been painted with Chevy Orange. Is that something normal that exits the engine thru the headers. My headers bolts are tight and I have brand new Alumiun header gaskets. I guess mabye my header gasket didn't seal up right. Any thought was be great.
