^^^ what he said.

To adjust the mixture more ideally you'll either want to get a colortune kit (old school guys use em) or take it out on the highway and run it hard then stop shut it off and pull the plugs. but start with getting the idle set properly and getting the timing set right and you will be good to go in no time.

i have the idle running great now and it seems to roar now too. no hesitation when i floor it. of course i havent moved it really its just running in one spot but i think ill move it today after i get the interior put back together.

oh and i found another problem... im only running on 6 cylinders too. my dad came home and he gets to work with some pretty sweet toys and he brought home a thermal camera.

numbers 5 & 8 are not firing and i am hearing a bit of backfire so i think that is the problem. im checking the plugs and the wires today. pretty nifty toy huh?

oh and here is a pic of the carb.

so after taking the cap and rotor off and cleaning them up a bit im now on all 8 cylinders.

i took the truck for a little trip out back and realized that the engine likes to die out if i give it any more than i feather of throttle. it will just bog out it seems. i would have to get the engine to speed the car up gradually before i could hit the gas any more.

is this just a fuel mixture problem? i can floor it if its in neutral or park when there is no stress on the engine. but once it is under stress it starts struggling. no idea how to fix this either so...... help???
