Default Exhaust tip location

i am puuting true dual exhaust on the 1990 jimmy. i am thinking about taking it out the back at a 45 degree angle or thought about turn it out on either side of the vehicle right before the rear tires. i was wondering if anybody has seen it that way or if anybody sees a problem with it.

seen every which way. usually on k5s they exit out the sides cause if you have that back window open fumes will get in. also from years of offroading you never want your exhaust sticking out the back, thatll be the first thing that breaks or bends.

heres a pic of it exiting behind the rear tire on a k5

and heres one coming straight out the back

sorry for the crappy pictures. most the ones i have are from the front or sides

Typically you want them coming out the sides as in the first picture. However I've seen them angled at a 45* like you mention and they looked pretty good. I don't think they had issues with fumes, of course he didn't drive with his rear hatch open much...

if ur putting it on a small sized 90 jimmy then out the back will be fine depending on how u drive. if u are going to be mudding and wheeling quite a bit then keep the pipe as close as u can to the vehicle so it cant be bent or ripped off. try to keep it up like the stock ones.

I plan on running mine out the very bottom of the fender (actually thru the fender) behind the rear tire on my K5. Keeps it up above the bumper, but still out the sides.

yeah id recommend out the sides, simply to keep fumes out of that back window. that blue truck i posted above was actually a parts truck i bought, i got it running and took it to my bosses farm and just beat the heck out of it and noticed fumes coming in through the back window cause it was busted out, had to leave the windows down all the time
