Default Fixing The GM Steering Wobble

I have recently had problems in my 91 blazer with the tilt assembly comes loose and wobbles. at first i thought the column is worn out, but this is not the case. For some reason, GM did not use thread-lock on the four screws on the tilt assembly so they loosen, causing the wobble. My Buddy tells me this is especially found on lifted trucks where the steering column is used as a grab handle during entry. Being a mechanic he said bringing it to a shop would cost me and gave me this article from SUPERCHEVY.com a few hrs later my steering column was like new. Here is the site for anyone with htis problem http://www.superchevy.com/tech/sucp_...umn/index.html

Yep, very good how-to. I have used it on a few trucks already. I plan on recreating it when I tighten the column out of my '90 'burb parts truck before putting it into my '74 K5.

Just make sure you do it right away. I let mine go for a while and chewed up thebolt threads. When I had a lifted k5 I just put a non tilt in
