Anyone know if the front driveshaft is long enough in stock form for a 6-8in lift?? I took mine out yesterday because there was alot of play where the rear part of the shaft slides into the front part. I mean it wiggled about 1/2 to 3/4in easy. Im not sure if that threaded collar is worn out or if the shaft is just too short stock.

yes and no.... it seems to differ for whatever reason. i have put a 6 inch lift on 3 different k5's and 2 of them they were fine and on the third one the splines started to pull out

if that spline section moves up and down then yeah its worn out. ive had a driveshaft as bad as youre describing and figured i would wait til it broke and it never did

If your hubs are unlocked and the transmission is in 2-Hi then your front shaft will not be spinning.
In my experience 4" is ok for stock shafts, if you go to 6" and higher you should buy new shaft or have your existing shaft re-tubed.
