I purchased an hei distributor for my k5 (which is currently a points setup) but it is computer controlled and my k5 which is a 79 ,so of course no computer .so my question is can the hei distributor be changed to a mechanical vacuum advance or should i just puchase another distributor i am on limited funds and trying to do this as cheep as possible ,thanks

 

i know jc whitney sold a conversion for the k5. i dont think it was hei though. i'll see if i can find it.

I upgraded my '74 to an HEI distributor, but it already had the vacuum advance on it.

What did the distributor you have come out of? Just curious because I could have sworn that the later model computer controlled distributors were not setup like the older HEI distributors.
