need help with my 86 k10 rear tailgate window

Default need help with my 86 k10 rear tailgate window

hey yall i just traded on a 86 k 10 and the rear power lift window wont do nothing at all no sounds or movement oranything i need some advice and help please feel free to e mail me with advice at howard_neely@yahoo.com i will appreciate all the help

Pop open the tailgate and see if you are getting power and ground to the window motor when you try it with the dash switch. There is a safety switch on the latch so if the tailgate isn't up and latched, it won't work.

Also, you can try supplying power directly to the motor with a fused jumper wire from the positive terminal and a ground wire from the negative terminal to the tailgate itself.

If you need to get the window down, disconnect the flexible driveshaft from the motor and connect a drill to it. The drill will take the place of the original motor, thereby allowing you to lower the window.

i took motor out and hook up to battery and it just made the wires gethot so it has short in motor thks for your help putting one back in on fri when i get paid will let u know how it goes
