Default Need Info and Help

I need to put a second battery under my hood. The only problem i have is that, the only place I can put it has something in the way. It is a black cyclinder that has a hard line coming into one end that says "Tank" from an unkown place, and a soft line coming into the other end from the throttle body thats says "Purge". Refer to pictures below.

I need to know what this is and if i can move it to a different location. Also if I'm able to move it, are there any suggestions as to where.

Thanks.

I usually just throw mine out. But If you got fuel injection you may need it. If you can find a battery tray from a military blazer they have the second one bolt onto the fender just in front of the other battery kinda right in front of the blower motor. Also if you got the wire you can run that second battery in your cargo are out back

I forget exactly what it does. Its called the charcoal canister if that's how you spell it. I believe it has something to do with reburning gasoline vapors. Google it to be sure. I don't know if its needed for your computer to run properly. I always removed them on my carb trucks

Thanks. It is called a Charcoal Canister. I do need it though, it would not pass inspection without it. So in this caase i gues i could move it. The only thing i would like to know, is the hard line that says "Tank", is that filled with gas, or just the gas vapors?

I don't think any gas actually goes to it. But like I said I only have experence with carburated models and I disconnected them and just let the lines sit there and no gas ever came out but who knows with fuel injection. Also I'd be worried about it throwing a evap code
