Default Np 241 problems

I have a 93 with the NP 241 transfer case, in neutral I can go into 4LO. I put her back in the neutral position in the transfer case, from there on it a mad grind fest.

I know there a linkage to the transfer case, can that be adjusted? Could the thermal switch be on the fritz? I think I read somewhere online there is an updated thermal switch.

On the bright side I rebuilt me 700R4 all by myself, and it worked. WOOHOO!!!

Thanks

The transmission needs to be in neutral and the truck stopped or only slightly rolling whenever you change ranges (HI to LO or LO to HI).

If the transmission is in neutral, then there should be nothing to grind as nothing in the transmission would be moving. Are you sure that your transmission shift linkage is adjusted properly so that neutral is true neutral?

Ah, now that's one thing that I haven't looked into closely. I was so happy just to get her road worthy.

Cool, I'll check her out when I get home.

thanks
