Default odo fix and rattletastic door

1. I have the old style speedo pictured here:

The odometer has a small plastic piece that keeps all the numbers from moving at once and this has broken on the first 3 numbers so that they are now stuck at 849. So, two questions, can this be fixed? Or, if i bought a speedo unit from a late model k5, can the guts be mated to my face?

2. When I repainted the truck, I bought new door strikers to replace the old shoddy ones. The issue is that the plastic that surrounds the metal part of the striker is loose and causes the door to rattle up and down on the road in a rather annoying fashion. I've tried screwing in the striker more, but I've reached the end of the threads and I just can't put anymore pressure on the plastic piece. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I thought about maybe siliconing it in place, but I'm sure that would not hold up.
