Default Rear power window

Have a "86" full size w/power everything, don't know how far the rear window is suppose to retract, all the way? Mine has retacted only to the point of about 1/2" remaining above the weatherstripping in the middle. I have owned this "Blazer" since 1988, divorced 2 yrs ago & for $400.00 I kept it with blown head gaskets. Decided to junk the stock 350 & the computer BS and dropped in a "69" vette 350/375hp + other upgrades, roller rockers, etc. 450+ hp, reworked the 700r4 (no electronics, all manual). I am going piece by piece and restoring a good ride (lots of fun! Lots of power! Cal smog - No Problem!) Can anyone tell me about the rear window?

I belive it rolls down all the way to protect the glass when you put the tailgate down. I am having problems with mine too. It wont do anything, but thankfully it quit working when it was closed.

It has stopped in the up postion. When trying to operate it from the switch mounted on the dash, it does absolutely nothing. I am blaming the switch on that one. When you operate it from the key switch on the back of the tailgate, it makes a click sound when you turn the key in either direction, but the window does not go up or down.

I dont want to tear apart the whole thing if I have to because I am just home on a small vacation and it is my dad's blazer. I would like not to leave it apart, and have to go back to school in a week or two.

Anywhere from a tiny bit extended up to 1" is what I have seen from quite a number of K5s. I believe there is a low level switch or some other safety feature that tells the rear window motor when to stop that can be adjusted.

As far as your problem kustomdlx454, you really need to get in there and determine if the motor is the problem or if the window is bound up. If you decide to tackle this job, please create a new thread as your problem and the originally posted problem are different.
