yeah so k5's are badass. hands down.
but....i need to know the downlow gritty ****. what should i watch out for, im trying to getta k5 witha 350, rebuilt motor, and hopefully some 356 gears, or maybe 373's. is body a bitch to work on? any suggestions on like power steering and the drive train? what should i watch out for? any help is help, please post!

The bodys are known to rot out right behind the front doors, and in that floor pan area, and also near the hinges on the back door, and that floor pan. Pull carpet for the best view, and look out for bondo. The older gmc's also had the better transfer cases, steel instead of cast, I believe 78-81. Don't worry too much about gears, they get decent mpg for the size, and in 4 low, you could drag a building down the street. I had a stock 85 k-5 and played tug of war with my buddy's 79 f-250 4x4 with a 460, and pulled him across the parking lot.
Almost forgot... look around the cap seal for rust, rot and a cracked seal
