Default sending unit

Trying to get this sending unit into the tank, seems like there is about a 1/2 inch of space between the opening and the top of the sending unit. Don't want to force it, but don't know what else to do. Any thoughts?

Make sure theres no dents in the bottom of the tank and that you have the correct sending unit. Shouldnt be that much space between the sending unit and the tank

Yea you might have got one for a 40gal tank. Make sure its facing the exact same way as the other one. Tanks usually have valleys in them and the screen has to be in a certain spot
