Default square body radio repair or replacements

Hello I am new to this forum but love square body GM products. I also have an 85 GMC short bed step side pickup.

Standard GM stock cassette player not working in vehicle I am purchasing
I had a 79 Jimmy new and am now buying a 1983 Blazer Silverado package. It has the stock AM/FM stereo with cassette radio (see picture attached). I am told that the radio does not work. I almost got one off of EBay that was "tested and working but someone else got it first. I see these are fairly scarce. Do you experts know of anyone who can fix these or should I replace with modern system that fits the space (if that is realistic) or leave it alone and just listen to the tires whine when driving to local shows, etc. I know everyone is different but am not sure if someone fixes these radios. A guy not too far from us replaces the guts for about $450 but not sure if it is worth that or not. Thank you and Happy Motoring.

I would keep it and get it fixed if you can find someone that is close, or can ship to at a reasonable price. If its going to go to shows, then a definite reason to keep thw stock radio... you don't see them much anymore...

Sorry I can't help more! But someone will chime in..
