86 k5 350 holley 4160... 3 days ago the truck ran great, then just shut off while driving. The only way i could get it started back up was to hold it to the floor. Then it just ran real rough and cut back off whenever i let off the gas. I had to turn the idle screw in a ways to keep it running and get it home. My first thought was since it is old and only had 1/8 of tank of gas, rust or something got sucked up from the tank. So, i put gas in it a new fuel filter and plugs... started up fine idled good started to give it some gas, then bam right back to running real rough and cutting off.. Any ideas anyone??? sounds like it could be a your fuel pump

 

Thats going to be what i try next, but my filter is see through and it looks like its getting to the filter from the pump good. when it runs like crap before it cuts off the filter is full of fuel. I took the screen out of the carb inlet and nothing, it seems like it is getting to the carb but not enough getting in it. thinking maybe something wrong in the carb but i know nothing about carbs or where to start. So i guess i'll get a pump and try that its only 20 bucks.

 

Problem solved... sometimes things dont make any sense, apperently the float was just stuck. took it apart to check the floats, they looked fine put it back together and the damn thing fired right up and runs great. oh well
