Cool Tailgate Liner...does it exist k5

Recently I saw a Jimmy k5 for sale which had a dyed red plastic or vynl tailgate protector.

Was this stock - if so where are they all. Ive seen a bunch at junckyards and none to be found. You would have thought with dog boxes and groceries to get that GM would have installed a liner. My service book shows one. was this aftermarket. Its about to drive me crazy lol. Please help K5 folks.

interesting. having owned many k5 blazers i have never seen one either. wonder if maybe they fell apart quickly due to people sliding stuff on them and threw them out.

Default Forgot to add.............

I do have the shop manual for this 1987 K5 blazer. It shows a diagram of the tailgate section which includes what they call a tailgate protector. I have looked and looked. Ebay, junkyards - all of it and cannot find one anywhere. The closest thing I came to was a company that discontinued them. Nothing. I am trying to rebuild my blazer stock. I would have to imagine that one would have been installed from GM to protect it from sliding items...........or was it just something not invented yet back in the good ol days.

Any help from the experts out there would be much appreciated.
