Hey guys I've been looking to get a throttle body spacer for my 87 full size and wanted to get some opinions on some different brands or on whether or not it's worth the money to get one at all....I've been looking at the trans dapt torqe swirl one Is there better ones out there? Or do they even work at all?

 

I wouldn't put much stock in the 'swirl' having an effect on the gains from a spacer.

The one that I have read quite a bit about in the past is the one that CFM-Tech.com sells. The notch between the bores of the spacer connects both sides of the stock two plane intake manifold which in stock form were blocked off which limited breathing to a certain extent.

 

trust me its not worth the trouble or money!! not saying it hard to do just saying its not worth the effort or money i never noticed any difference on my old chevy truck with 350.

 

They can help, it's all about application. The 350 in my Chevelle picked up close to 20HP (on the dyno over 17 years ago) with a 4-hole 1" spacer under the 600cfm Holley carb, but that was with a single plane intake under the carb and the large opening under the carb had an impact on the operation of the carb.

On newer port fuel injected vehicles, not so much. If you have a stock engine, you likely aren't going to be able to notice any difference by the seat of your pants. If you have done cam/head work and are now pushing higher RPM than was attainable stock, then the CFM-Tech spacer will help.

 

Well I do have a small eddlebrock 3702 cam in it it's a little mild cam would that be a factor?

 

Oh and a dual plane intake manifold...
