Torque Converter not locking up

Torque Converter not locking up
I'll start off by saying I have a 1988 K5 Blazer with a TBI 5.7 liter engine. I just installed a new 700R4 Transmission and torque converter. Now I can't get my torque converter to lock up. My engine light is on and I just found out the code is 24. If I looked it up right its the vehicle speed sensor. Does this sound right to any of you. Some friend of a friend said its not locking up because I don't have my speedometer cable hooked up. Any opinions or ideas before I seek more expensive help. Thanks

It does to me . Some controls on the engine will control the converter . Look up the code and it will tell you waht it does control .Make sure it's the sensor and not the wiring .

I should have also asked are you sure it's not locking up ? How did you check it ?
