Had this issue before. Had an explorer they wouldn't give a small enclosed trailer, but it was OK for my traverse. The explorer capacity was 1500 pounds more.

I think for a while they wouldn't rent you a trailer to tow behind an Explorer at all. That was when Ford was having all those problems with them blowing tires and rolling over.
