Default Towing questions

Hello all! I have got a few questions about the blazers towing abilities. I have a rather young 2000 blazer and I know what its rated to tow, but my main concern is what is deemed as "safe" towing. Weight wise of course. My main reason for asking is because I am on the hunt for another aurora and may have found the perfect candidate. The thing will need to be hauled back here to IL. It is a 4 hour trip to Richmond, IN. The aurora is a heavy weight weighing in at 4800 lbs. Throw in the extra hundred pound towing dolly and we are almost at max suggested weight. Relatively flat plains, and easy accelerating. Can she handle it? Or am I putting far too much strain on the drivetrain?

First, do you have a tow package on that blazer?

Second, if you don't invest in a tranny cooler...

I dunno if I have the tow package or not, but I do have a reese hitch setup. I have no trailer control thingy like I have seen on vehicles with the tow package.

well, ive hauled well more than that with my 94. i hauled a two axle flatbed weighing in at 2500, then a 94 jimmy parts truck on the flatbed, for a distance of about 55 miles. not the smartest idea, i know, but i got the parts truck for $150 and there was no way in hell i was passing it up because i had no other way to get it home. it actually managed pretty well, didnt have any heat problems, but i also babied the hell out of it (light acceleration, light braking)
