Default Whining Sound

Ok, I have a problem with my truck, its an 87 Blazer with a 6.2L DD.

The problem is that when I'm driving and the truck starts to get up to speed, 3rd and 4th gear I start to get a whining noise, everyone says its coming from the back end, but to me it seems like its coming from the from driver side wheel/axle.

Any help would be great!.

could be the wheel bearings take them apart and check for any pitting or wear, replace and repack as necessary.

I'll take a look on Wednesday, if I'm looking at them I might as well change it, they can't be too expensive and I'm sure its the original so its about time to change them anyways.

Ok, I have checked the bearings and they both seem fine.

Its strange because the sound only comes on when i get into 3rd or 4th grea.

And only under load aka giving it gas.

replace your driveshaft u-joints. $20 says they'll be sloppy as hell when you take the driveshaft off.

I've changed them about a year ago so I can't see them failing already.

I was thinking the bearings, cant really see them unless you tear down the rear end. Did the fluid have a silver color to it.

Fluid seemed normal, no leaking into the drums and the axle had no wear on it.
