Question 01' Blazer spare tire question.

I just bought a 2001 4 door Blazer LS (2wd). So, I have to replace my fuel pump and have to drop the tank. Before doing this I need to take out my spare tire underneath the truck. I started to do this the other day, and noticed that it takes a speacial "Small key" to get the spare all the way off. Is this something that I'm gonna have to call a dealership about, or what other options do I have? Thanks

Special small key? As far as I know it only requires the lug wrench to lower it, then once it's on the ground you can turn the hook sideways and remove the cable from the wheel. I've never heard of a key being required with the underbody carrier. That being said there are many things that I've never encountered. Could you post a picture of the piece that requires the key?

As soon as I figure out how to get a pic on here without using a URL. Thanks.

Try your door keys.. or your ignition key.

The ignition cylinder has been replaced. Can't get ahold of the original owner(s).

Ignition key won't unlock that. You are correct, needs a little key. In leiu of using little key, use big drill bit. Preferably with a corded electric drill, unless you have a few extra charged up batteries ready to go for your cordless...

My $0.02

That's after market. If you can't find a key in the blazer then grab a grinder or something and tear it apart or cut it off.
