So I just got my first project car in order to learn more about cars and maintenance, and I'm facing my first major problem, I've noticed that the front axle is shifted over on the passenger side, it sticks out about 3 inches on the passenger side and an inch on the driver side. The shackles are in place with the axle but I'm not sure where to start or what to look for. Is it the track bar? Or the center link? Will one of these help recenter? I have some attachments.
It looks like the axle shifted... I swear there should be a little more space between the housing and the leafs. Could be wrong. Have you compared to other k5s? Either online or around the area(if there are any)?
Check the wheel offset first. The PO may have installed an odd wheel on the front. There is no track bar so, if the shackles are straight, the axle is in the right spot. The spring pad is cast into the housing on the right side, so it can't move, either.
Okay I will take more photos later today, yeah the axle has an extruded part where the shackles are nested next to the differential. But I will take the tires off and measure the offsets, thank you guys so much for your input, really n
Looks like the front and rear on passenger side should be swapped around lol. Could just be the angle, but rear passenger looks a little more in then the drivers side...
