Default 1995 bumper vs 2000 bumper

My rear bumper on my 2000 blazer is rotting out from the inside so id like to replace it. (Not the bumper ends, the actual bumper). I have looked and the 1995 version bumper is actually cheaper, would this version fit on my 2000?

I'm not sure if the mounting plates that go from the frame to the bumper are the same. I kind of think they are different.

Another less expensive option to replace your bumper might be to try and find a decent condition used one from a U-pull type place if you have one nearby.

Maybe if they arent too different I could weld a bracket for it, but Ill definitely look at some junkyards around here. My only problem is I live in Iowa so lots of the junkers have rust, so it would be pointless for me to replace this bumper just for one that has rust eating at the backside of it. I could just buy the correct generation bumper but those are an extra 75-100 dollars. But i’ll definitely do some more research then if the mounts may be different,

Thanks El Beautor

You're right that you likely could modify the mounting brackets if necessary. If you know how to weld, then almost anything is possible with some work.

As long as you're able to return it, you could even get the cheaper bumper to mock it up, and determine what changes may need to be made, and then if you decide it won't work you could return it for a refund or exchange it for the one that is designed for your truck.

You could also look at finding the matching mounting brackets for the bumper, although I'm not 100% sure that the frame is exactly the same between those years.

I have already had a Blazer of this generation, and personally I think that the 1995-1997 bumpers are slightly different on the fastening side compared to the 1998-2000. You could maybe mount it with a little adjustment, but it won't be plug and play. It is especially necessary to check the supports and the spacing of the bolts. If you're comfortable with a little tinkering, it's doable. Otherwise, it can quickly become a hassle. Keep us posted if you get started!
