Personally I've owned a 1997 and a 95 and honestly have had alot less engine problems with the 95 than the 97 .. but that could be my own personal experience

i think its easier to periodically change out the CPI injector on a 95 CPI motor than it is to periodically replace the lower intake gaskets on the 96 and newer SCFI motors in my opinion...

Why would you periodically change out the LIM gasket on the SCFI motor when you can do it once with the metal framed gasket and forget about it?

Then it was not done correctly the first time. As with any repair, if you do not do it right, it won't last. Can't blame that on the tools, materials, or the vehicle.

Default I was reading you can put the MPFI on the 96 SCFI, I this correct?

The CPI engine uses one single batch fired electronic fuel injector which feeds the six pressure actuated poppet nozzles spraying fuel into the intake runners. The SCFI engine uses six individual electronic injectors in a central injector pod. The electronic injectors feed poppet nozzles very similar to those used in the CPI engine at the intake runners. The MPFI spider redesign looks very similar to the SCFI spider, but the electronic injectors are moved down to the intake runners, replacing the somewhat problematic poppet nozzles.
