If you never go off roading in it i don't think it'd be dumb. i live in a very urban area and would enjoy the lowered aspect with the option of 4x4 in horrid weather if need be.

Now, as we all know mine is 2wd and i love it that way for the little bit better mileage i get, but i'd happily take a 4x4 if it were offered

Auto-Trac 4x4 and wouldn't have it any other way. Very nice in the snow.

Everyone who has the newer blazers and jimmy's with that auto track is lucky, my moms trailblazer has it and it makes bad weather driving a little bit better but my blazer jsut having 4wd sucks for bad weather driving. you are never suppose to put them in 4wd if your going over 45 mph so I have to get by with what I got. but I pretty much look at it aseven if you have 4wd dont drive any faster then you would in just rear. anyone who has played with 4wd knows that if the front tires lose traction you are less likey to have your steering. not bashing on anyone but just gotta keep in mind 4wd doesnt make you invisible. in all reality its onyl real purpose is off road and lower speeds on highway it can hurt you more then anything. here where i live we have ice and snow covered roads 9 months out of the year and at least 10 times a year i hear about an accident with an suv and it always has somethin about the driver having 4wd and they drive exessively thinking the 4wd is gonna keep them safe. infact there was one just a few weeks ago had the same thing some suv rolled 5 times then did an endo going to fast and they hit a bad pack of road. 4wd will not make up for lack of knowledge and experience in driving in bad weather

I've just always had the personal of opinion of if your going to change the ride height 2wd=lower 4wd=lift kit.

i have a 99 blazer with the auto 4wd i usually use that in the winter when it snows unless it gets really bad out then i go 4wd but when its not snowy on the roads i have the 2wd on to save gas. it is my first 4wd.

4x4 to help me get to work in the winter or anywheres during a snow storm. Otherwise its in 2wd. Had a 4x4 blazer before when I was young and stupid and end up rolling it 4x4ing and totalling the truck. Big regret. Oh well, we live and learn.

My wifes '99 jimmy is the 2wd, my '83 blazer is the 4x4. Both have the uses and functionality.

Got the 86 k5 4x4. Thinking of switching the hub to manual lock.

lol, I just got back from having fun in the mud with a lowered 92 2wd standard and a 98 2wd 4 door auto, they do just fine if you bounce the tach between 1.5k-3.5k, the rear locks and you slide but you get out, man i had a blast in those trucks

Mine is a 4x4. Currently im only driving in 2wd, I did put it in 4wd once when i ran it through my gmas backyard LMAO! That was fun!!

Yeah thats true, last winter was hell especially in a car with bald tires. Now that i got 4x4 it might be better this winter
