Default 2wd to 4wd frame swap question

I bought a 73 blazer that was sitting on a 2wd frame for cheap, super cheap... $200 cheap... The tub is in great shape, no rust and it was originally a 4x4. I was looking to put it back to a 4wd and have the opportunity to get an 82 4x4 frame.

Question is, will the chassis bolt right up to the frame without any modifications? I can't seem to find any information on it other than the frame is .3 inches longer... any help is appreciated!

No, it will not bolt right up. A few of the body mounts changed. The one behind the front seats changed in '78, the one up near the firewall changed in '81, and I believe that the radiator core support mounts were changed for '81 as well. Some were just changes to body mount design, but the one behind the front seats is the one that actually changed location. This was due to GM revising the floor area by extending the floor that is under the front seats back an additional 8-10 inches for more rear seat foot room where the rear bed floor previously went right up to the back of the front seats.

Your best bet is to find a '73-'77 frame.

Cool, thanks for the info. I might pick it up anyways, he wants $400 for it and it comes with 3/4 running gear, lift, and some other needed parts. I can always sell/scrap the frame for a few $$.

I actually got both a 2wd and a 4x4 from the same guy, both '73's, he threw the 2wd in for $200. I want to take my time with one, build it nice and perty, the other I'm just going to build to beat on.

and nice '74!
