How long do the 4l60e live for ?
I have one that just died after 350k, trans has never been touched. What happened is i was backing up a steep hill and "R" went.
I had to get it pulled out because i was parked in front of some rocks blocking to get to the hiking trail. After when i got pulled out i drove it home like 5 min and it only had 1st gear, when i got home the tranny was smoking and all i smelled burnt
i picked up a used one with 80k on it for 500 bucks getting it put in today for 250 bucks

thats 217479.91728295(350000km) miles of no transmission maintence?
if so i'd say thats a good amount of life. mine went out at 75,000 miles(120700.8km), so you got about not quite double the life. which from my opion is pretty good if no maintence was done. i apologize for my standard ways, i had to convert just to put it in terms i could understand.

Sounds like you had the reaction sun shell fail on you. Not too bad of a life on that trans.
As far as the average life, typically it depends on how the trans is treated. It is hit or miss as far as when the stock reaction sun shell will go, but that is one of the most typical failures.
