Angry 84 k5 steering issues

I recently bought a 1984 blazer, it has a good sized lift, the exact height I'm not sure of, and is sitting on 38 x 15.5 tires. The previous owner installed cross over steering shortly before I bought it. The problem is i have very little control over where it steers. I can sort of keep it going down the road but wanders like crazy and there is basically no input from the steering wheel. I asked about this problem in a different group and a lot of people told me to install a panhard bar, which I did. After installing and driving i told that group nothing really changed and they ripped me a new one saying I'm an idiot for using a panhard bar after i was told to use one. I'm at a loss at this point and not sure what to do. I'm brand new to all of this. I'm 19 and this is my first solid axle vehicle and I am trying to learn as I go along.

Check for frame cracking where the steering box bolts on. It's VERY common on those. Fortunately, it's a fairly easy repair. If yours isn't cracked, it would still be a good idea to weld on a reinforcement plate, especially with 38" tires.
