Exclamation '99 Blazer S10 wierd electrical problem

Just today my Blazer started giving me trouble when I try to start it. This morning it started fine, but later on in the day, I tried to start it up again and it went crazy. It sounded like the battery was dead - clicking, trying but not quite able to turn over, all the lights on the dash come on, and here's the weird part.. it pops open the rear gate. Luckily, it only took me two or three tries and the engine turned over and I got it home. It runs fine once started.

I was wondering if anyone heard of a problem like this or has any suggestions on what it could be. Thanks a lot.

I'm afraid I don't have any concrete input other than it sounds like the opening scene to another bad Paris Hilton horror film....maybe the ignition switch or the Body Control Module? When it finally started and you drove away did you look in the rearview? Maybe Freddie or Jason was just about to pull open that rear gate. Good Luck, I'm sure someone else on here will be be able to give you some help.

i have a 1997 and had similar problems,it was the connection underneath the ignition switch, have to take the bottom shroud off the column and there is a black box looking connector with about 5 wires in there,it was one of those wires that had a bad connection...it wont start until you get power to light up the dash,it will turn over but not start...
