Exclamation abs question

this might have already been asked/answered before but, i have a 97 blazer 4x4 and yesterday our ABS light came on. We havent had any problems with our brakes, our brake fluid levels are fine, and we still have semi good brake pads. Im wondering if since the pads are GETTING low if this has came on to "remind" us that we need to change the breaks soon. Lastly, ive been told that it could be an abs sensor that is bad? Any suggestions are welcome. thanks

The light will not come on because the pads are low. The first place I would look is at the ring on the back side of the hubs to make sure there is no debris/rust built up and if all looks clear have it scanned for codes.
