abs code question
Ok I took my truck to a local mechanic and he ran a diagnositc and said the truck is throwing a P1000 code, the ABS light is on but the truck performs properly. Anyone know what a P1000 code is? TIA

RE: abs code question
Well I did not find a P1000 code at all. I would see if they would tell you exactly what the code was. ABS codes should start with a C also, P codes usually mean powertrain, I.E.: engine, trans, t-case. If you got us that code we could help you out!!

RE: abs code question
I fixed the problem on my own. On a whim I decided to check the ABS fuse in the panel to the left of the dash, I pulled the fuse out and one of the prongs was broken off, replaced the fuse and the problem the abs light is now off. My stupid question is why wouldn't the mechanic have looked at this, oh well cheap fix!

RE: abs code question
Sometimes the simplest things get overlooked. Glad you got it fixed!

RE: abs code question
Unfortunately I have seen many times when mechanics don't start with the basics and can spend a lot of time on diagnosis before they go back and start at the beginning.
Kinda like the guy who replaces his ball joints to repair his steering problem and then checks the air pressure in the tires, only to find one low tire with a nail in it, after a full day and many $$$ spent. [:@]
