Accident...
Since this is already talking about accidents, my room mate has a 99 ZR2, it looks just like the one used for this Web site, he was t-boned friday leaving work, it knocked off the passenger side A-arms and snaped his cv joint, and bent the frame enought to leave a large crease in the opposite fender, but he was also un injured as well as the other driver.

I've got good and bad experiences with CL. I bought my clear lights and my tail lights from people on there only to get home and find something wrong with them, of course the people never answer or return your calls. I bought a few good things including Jenna from CL though.
I have never bought a used car from a dealer. Plus you gotta pay taxes. Just know what to look for when you buy from the paper or craigslist. I have bought 2 blazers, and 1 Audi from CL(5 other cars from newspapers). I have gotten great deals.Either look the car over 100% or bring it to a shop. I have a shop around the corner from me with a lift. I give him $20 and he puts the car i'm looking at, on it. We both look it over. There are great deals out there and don't be afraid to walk away, also I have had to drive quite far 70+ miles for that deal.
Here are some tips. Drive the car see how it feels, look under the car for any fluids dripping, check the fluids, check the fenders, doors, trunk, bumpers, make sure they line up. They are spec'ed from the factory to have a perfect space between them all the way up and down. Most body shops dont get that right. Ask when maintence has been done and if there are any records. Myself I dont bother doing carfax anymore since its $30 and I can usually tell from looking the car over. Also tap the car lighty and most of the time you can hear if its bondo or metal. Make sure its a clean title, etc. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
Oh and usually on craigslist if they don't list a numuber; they really aren't in a rush to sell it, or it's a scam.

The worst experience I had with CL was a bodykit I had to drive 6hrs to get. It was supposed to be a swap, my stock bumpers off a nissan 200sx for his full bodykit. The pics of the kit looked cool so I figured, I'll drive to swap the bumpers then just drive to T.J. (the Mexican border) which was just a few minutes awayfor the weekend.Everything was going good until my wifes 02 Explorer too a crap about 45 min away from my destination!!! Long story short that bodykit ended up costing me close to 2 grand (including repairs, towing, hotel, rental car) and a missed week of work w/o pay!!! The Explorer decited to take a crap in the middle of nowhere mind you, so no mechanics to diagnost it. 2 weeks later after being at 2 diferent shops I find out it was just a "blown" fuse!!!! Needless to say I was PO!!!! Actually this wasn't CL fault but it was still a bad experience!!! I learned my lesson though, I will never travel that far for something off CL anymore.
