Default Advice when buying a 4x4?

Im getting an alright amount of financial aid this year and i was looking to buy a 4x4 so i can get in on some of this fun i see all of you having.

When i finally go to look at some, is there anything i should check specifically?

Im not sure if there are certain things to check for when buyin a 4wd truck.

get an old toyota or nissan, they're cheap, easy to fix, pretty reliable, they have locking hubs in the front and a locking rear, you can jam pretty big tires on them stock, small enough to go anywhere, and there are tons of lifts and accessories for them. The only prob is a lot of the older ones had rust issues so just give em a good look over before making your decision

if you want to have fun off road a blazer isn't the best thing to get... unless you get a K5. All the off road mods I have done to my blazer is maybe comparable to a stock 4 runner

edit: if you want a blazer that performs good off road get a zr2 or a k5, both usually have locking rears

if you want to support american car companies get a jeep Cherokee sport that is probably the best/cheapest off road vehicle made in America. they make tons of accessories for jeep Cherokees as well
