does it matter what kind of projector you get? im lookin at doing this to my jimmy. do i just get a projector and mount it inside of my stock light? im kind of confused with all this. i was to do a true hid set up with projector but not sure that anyone makes any specific projectors for the gmc jimmy. anyone got any ideas or info on that?

I'm no HID expert, but I think that's called a retro when you put in a true HID projector into your housing. Which is about the best way. That's what I plan on doing one day for my blazer maybe. But if I can just plug in a set of HID's for my jimmy, I might give it ago.
edit: Now I remember why I want to do a retro install. I need bixenon hid's for the first gen's to have both high and low beams.

If your Jimmy is 98+ you can see if you can find the headlight housings from an s-series based Envoy (98+ of course) that came with HID's from the factory.

I still gotta cut the rad support, and splice in the rubber seals for the plugs...
H1 HID's into H1 projectors are a major PITA!! lol.
Gotta do some grinding in the projector housing, and the bulb doesn't fit quite right... That could be from the cheaper E-bay projector, though...
Had to trim the bulb a bit as well...
Almost got one side ready to put in, though!
All in all... Me like!
And this is another reason it's a PITA... back of the bulb is uber long, lol.
If you're using 9006 bulbs to begin with, I don't think you'll have any issues... It'll just drop right in...

So far they seem to be working great!
I hope they keep working good, too, lol.
Keep in mind these are 6000k bulbs so they're not as bright as they could be... My camera doesn't do a good job of taking light output shots, lol...
At least not through the windshield... does a much better job from the hood/brushguard...

i ahve a set in mine, yeah i have tthe orginol housing on them, they are a extreme impriovement from what ive seen(my lights were really dim as it was) it only cost me i think 350 and that was install to, but i had it down but a custom car shop, you do notice with hids how yellow halgon really are, first thing i nothiced, and on my truck there seem to be like voids(where light wasnt present) that were filled
o and by projectors, do you men aa whole new headlight housing, and how much these run, and are they really nessary to instaly or do i just leave the old housing in?

they do sell just an indivdual projector lens that you can pop into your stock housing but the ones perry has are new headlight assemblys. from what i have seen, they are mostly about $100-$150. some say they are necessary to aim the light correctly but i have ridden in several cars with HIDs in stock halogen housings and they seem fine. i ordered a HID conversion kit on ebay yesterday and i am going to use them in my stock housings.
also, the projector assemblys use a different size bulb than the stock ones so if you do buy new assemblys, then you have to buy new bulbs
do you have any pics of your HIDs in your stock housings? i wanna see what they look like in a non-projector lens

It's not so much to "aim the light" but to limit the bleeding effect around the light that blinds other people...
Some lights are worse for it than others...
Best way to see what I mean, is next time you're driving at night, look at a green light and how much "light bleed" it has (halo glowing around it) and how little the red has in comparison...

limit is a much better word for it, i couldnt think if a good word besides "aim"
