I currently have 35w HIDs and being used to HID projectors, they're just not doing it for me anymore. I've read that 55w HIDs reflect light back differently than 35w bulbs and that they can actually melt the housings they get so hot. Is there any truth to this? Any pictures out there of 55w HIDs in the stock housings?

 

What's the K of the one's you're using? If they're 6000K or greater they've probably darkened/burnt in a bit since new & brighter. I've noticed that on my 8000K, they've gotten bluer than when I first installed them.
